Samantha is a member of the Lockhart River Art Gang. Lockhart River is on the east coast of Cape York in Far North Queensland. Samantha works from the Art centre. Samantha paints about her country, her community and stories from the old days. “I paint about my country…our land and our sea country… the patterns and colours and the stories”. ‘My grandmother tells me stories from the old days…I paint these stories”. “I paint things that happen in the community…sometimes what I see really upsets me. I paint. It makes me feel better inside.”
e has also exhibited in Brisbane, Cairns and Canberra. She was the 2000 recipient of the Lin Onus Youth Award at the Fifth National Indigenous Heritage Art Awards. 2000.
