Born at Watulka, south of Kiwirrkurra, Ningura was married to Yala Yala Gibbs Tjungurrayi (now deceased) an outstanding artist who painted for Papunya Tula Artists. Her depictions include the story for Wirrulnga, a Rockhole east of Kiwirrkurra, for Papunya Tula Artists. Her painting was used as a motif on an Australian stamp in 2003.
Ningura Napurrula is one of the eight artists whose work is now part of the largest international commission of contemporary Indigenous art from Australia at a major new museum in Paris, the Musée du quai Branly.
In 2007, Napurrula was named as one of Australia's 50 most collectable artists by the prestigious Australian Art Collector magazine.
